The gun shop where the Newtown shooter tried to buy a rifle three days before embarking on his massacre is having an ammunition sale.
Dick’s Sporting Goods in Danbury, Connecticut is selling rounds as cheap as 5 cents a shot with 50 percent discounts on a range of bullets.
The prices of all ‘Big Game’ rifle ammunition as well as shotgun shells have been slashed.

The decision to start the sale comes as America asks itself whether or not tighter gun laws are needed in the wake of the Newtown massacre, which left 28 people dead.

President Obama has held meetings with Vice President Joe Biden and three cabinet members in an effort to ‘begin looking at ways the country can respond to the tragedy in Newtown.’
Adam Lanza, 20, reportedly drove 13 miles from his home in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, to the Dick's store in Danbury on Dec. 11 where he asked about buying a rifle.
He did not take a gun home with him that day, however, as he was told - pursuant to Connecticut's gun laws - that there would be a waiting period for his request.
On Monday, huge boxes of ammunition were displayed on Dick's counters for sale.
A box of 2000 Winchester M-22 bullets was reduced by $20 so they cost $109.99, or 5 cents a shot.
On its website, Winchester boasts: ‘These 40-grain, blackened, round-nose bullets are highly accurate, plated for reduced fouling and enhanced function, and they maintain reliable feeding in high-capacity magazines.’
Also on the counter was a box of 350 Brass 9mm Full Metal Jacket bullets for $99.99, or 28 cents a round.
Gun Club Shot Shells by Remington were reduced to $5.48 a pack while Super Target Loads by Winchester were the same price.
The latter of the two rounds are so affordable they have been featured on a website called cheaperthandirt.com.

Dick’s Sporting Goods is one of the largest suppliers of outdoor clothing, accessories and apparel in the US.
The manager of the Dick's in Danbury, Connecticut declined to comment on the sale.
